What should I bring during the tour?

We highly recommend bringing warm clothing (a thick jacket, beanie, gloves) for the cold temperatures at Bromo and Ijen. Also, pack comfortable trekking shoes, a small backpack, a personal camera, sunscreen, and sandals or waterproof shoes for the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall.

What is the difficulty level of the Ijen crater hike?

The Ijen crater hike is of moderate difficulty. It involves a 3-kilometer trek uphill on a well-defined path, which typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Some sections can be steep, but it is manageable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.

What is the difficulty level of the Mount Bromo hike?

The Mount Bromo trek is considered easy. A 4WD Jeep will take you to the main viewpoint and then to the 'Sea of Sand' parking area. From there, it's a relatively flat walk followed by a climb up a staircase of about 250 steps to the crater rim.

From there, you'll be transferred to Bondowoso (approximately 5 hours). On the way, stop at a local restaurant in Probolinggo for lunch (at your own expense). Upon arrival at your hotel in Bondowoso, enjoy a dinner provided by us and take a rest to prepare for the early start on the next day.

Begin your journey at midnight with a drive to the Paltuding trailhead near Ijen Crater (approximately 90 minutes). From the trailhead, trek for about 1-1.5 hours to the crater rim, where you’ll witness the stunning turquoise sulfuric crater lake and the awe-inspiring blue flames—a natural phenomenon caused by ignited sulfuric gas. You’ll also observe the local sulfur miners as they carry heavy loads of sulfur. After enjoying the spectacular sunrise, descend the trail to return to the parking area. After the Ijen adventure, visit the Malabar Coffee Plantation in Sempol Village for a refreshing cup of Arabica coffee and a light snack. Return to your hotel for a quick shower and checkout. Enjoy lunch before starting the 4-hour journey back to Surabaya. You will be dropped off at your hotel or Surabaya Airport (recommended departure time: after 8 PM). This marks the end of your Mount Ijen adventure.
