I'd you want a well organized company for an amazing trips to mount bromo and ijen, look into these guys. From start to finish Java volcano tour operator was very professional. Tour guide Randy and driver Alex were outstanding in every way. Very friendly duo, and very accommodating. Our first stop at madakaripura waterfalls was amazing. The rainfall effects from the waterfalls were just something else, one of the coolest experiences I've had. The bromo hike was less of a hike, and more of a short climb up the asphalt road to the viewpoint. And the views were simply incredible. Some of the most amazing photos I've taken in my life. We were fortunate to have a clear day, with no fog in the immediate viewpoint area, so it was more than what I could have hoped for. A short ride down to the bromo crater, and there were spectacular views directly from the edge of the crater. Ijen offers much more of a hike to the top. About 1.5 to 2 hours. You can opt to pay for a ride to the top on a cart, pulled by 2 locals. Cost is 1.5m idr, but honestly is a crazy job, the amount of work involved to pull a loaded cart up that level of incline and terrain is nuts. Equally nuts is watching the miners carry huge amounts of sulphur out of the crater pit along narrow rocky 'steps'. The view from the top was also amazing, but there was some fog issues that covered part of the lake at the crater. For those looking for the blue fire, I have been told by my guide that they are now seen via "man made" versions down at the pit. The natural ones are way further down into the crater, and for safety reasons, are off limits to tourists. Still, the effects of the blue flame were super cool. I opted for the one way route, as I was headed directly to bali, so my driver and guide seamlessly drove me to ketapang harbour, purchased my ticket and had me on my way to bali. Some of the coolest sights I've seen in my life. 3d2n is standard. 4d3n is recommended if you want to do tempak sewu. Aside from the excellent professional crew, an added bonus with this company is that their accommodations are excellent, considering this type of trip, and seeing reviews for other companies regarding their very basic homestays. Jvto offer anything but basic, in this regard. The stay at first stop was a nice, clean family run place. The second night's stay was at a resort, probably one of the nicer accommodations in the area. Definitely much more than I was expecting. Included food offerings were plentiful. I think I only paid out of pocket 1 or 2 meals during the entire 3 days. Amazing organization. And their price was on the lower side compared to some of the others. Very highly recommended.
