Pickup by our team at your location in Surabaya. After meeting at the confirmed pick-up point, begin the overland transfer toward Bondowoso (Ijen area) as scheduled in the route plan.

Cancel the complete booking 48 hours or more before Day 1 and you receive Lifetime Package Credit. It is not cash and cannot be exchanged for cash. Cancel less than 48 hours before Day 1 and the booking is forfeited, with no credit created.

Volcanic alert level changes and BBKSDA closures are outside any operator's control, so the remedy depends on when the closure lands. If a verified official event makes the whole tour impossible before Day 1, you choose between Lifetime Package Credit and a cash refund less any non-recoverable vendor cost. If it affects only part of the tour after Day 1 has begun, JVTO first offers an alternative route or activity of equal standard, and where none is suitable a refund of the affected component applies. We monitor PVMBG alerts and notify guests proactively; our weather-and-closures policy documents the full SOP.

How long does it take to reach Papuma from Surabaya or Bali?▾
On Surabaya-origin packages, Papuma is reached after the Kawah Ijen night hike (Day 2 on 4D3N packages). The overland transfer from the Ijen area to Papuma takes roughly 2–3 hours. Guests arriving from Bali travel via the Gilimanuk–Ketapang ferry crossing into East Java — the Bali-to-Ijen segment takes 5–7 hours, with Papuma following the next day. JVTO manages all connections and travel timing.
Where do guests stay on the Papuma leg?▾
On Papuma-family packages, guests overnight at Doho Homestay on the Papuma side (after the Ijen day). Breakfast is included. The following morning, guests continue overland toward Tumpak Sewu. One of the best tours I have been on so far, the itinerary was very well planned - the hikes paced out perfectly to ensure enough rest, time allocated in each attraction is also sufficient to really explore, the hotels & food are amazing, way beyond our expectations.
