The route

- 2Stairs into the canyon - around 600 irregular steps, slippery in places.
- 3Bamboo ladder section - assisted by local guides.
- 4River crossing - knee-deep in dry season and potentially waist-deep during monsoon.
- 5Base of falls - wide pool, water spray, and dramatic light through the gorge.
When NOT to go
During and immediately after heavy rain, the canyon floor can flood rapidly. JVTO guides cancel descent when rainfall or water conditions make the canyon unsafe, then substitute an alternative such as Goa Tetes or reschedule where possible.
